Tagging Items
What is tagging
Tagging allows you to configure one or more “tags” on an item which are used for classification purposes. Think of tags as your ability to custom label any of your items to give them additional meaning.
Navigation:
Main Menu → Items → Item Management → Add/Edit item
Configuring tags on items
At the bottom of the first tab of the item editor is the new tag configuration section as shown below:
There are three types of tags you can configure:
Item
These tags will propagate to the order item records when new orders are placed
These tags can be used for conditional item assignment within StoreFronts
Customer
These tags will propagate to the customer profile when customers place an order for this item.
Order
These tags will propagate to the order record when new orders are placed
Import/Export item tags
When you export your items from UltraCart there will be three columns in the spreadsheet for your tags:
Tags - Customer
Tags - Item
Tags - Order
The individual tags will be separated with a | system if there are multiple.
Likewise you can import tags by adding columns to your spreadsheet and putting the tags within the appropriate column. For example if I wanted to tag something as tshirt and long sleeve then the value within the spreadsheet would be “tshirt|long sleeve”
How tags propagate to orders and customers
As mentioned above, tags propagate from the item to the order when orders are placed.
Order level tags are edited on the “Other” tab of the order editor as shown below:
As expected, item level tags are edited on the item tab of the order editor. Each order item has it’s own set of tags as shown below.
Using tags for conditional item assignment within StoreFronts
Within the page editor you can configure the conditional assignment using tags as shown below:
Using tags on order data
The tags configured on items propagate to orders as described above. You can access this tag data in multiple ways:
