Simple Free Trial Tutorial
This tutorial covers the basics of configure a free trial of a supplement with monthly repeat billing. This tutorial will walk you through configuring two items and setting up the schedule between the two.
Create Regular Item
To begin, navigate to item management under:
From the item screen, hover over ADD+ and then click on Add Item.
The item will be the *free trial item that the customer actually purchased. Configure the first page as shown below, but click the auto order tab instead of clicking save after you fill out the fields.
Kit or Regular Item?
You can create the new item as either a regular item or as a kit item. The key difference this will make will be in regard to the inventory tracking. Each "regular" item has its own inventory tracking. So if the Trial item in this scenario is a special version (let's say its only a 2 weeks supply instead of the full monthly supply, then you want to configure it as a separate "regular" item, defining its specific weight/dimensions details. However, if the trial bottle will be the same as the subsequent reorders in terms of the physical details, with only the cost and or shipping charges potentially differing, then the Kit configuration will be the better option. The Kit item is a "meta item" that is made up of "components" (combinations of regular items) so that the inventory tracking of the sale of the item to the regular item(s) that are the kit components.
Configure Recurring Shipment schedule
Configure the auto order tab as shown below. It is very important to include the "Arbitrary Unit Cost" as this is what bills the customer on the future orders. You can click on the Auto Order tab to save and refresh as you make configuration changes.
