Introduction

Introduction

UltraCart StoreFront Communications uses Email Sending Domains to send emails on your behalf instead of using your own SMTP server. This approach offers several advantages:

  • Simplifies configuration compared to SMTP.

  • Avoids overloading your company's email infrastructure, which may not be designed or authorized for high-volume marketing emails.

  • Enables UltraCart to track detailed email events, including delivery, bounces, opens, clicks, and spam complaints.

  • Provides visibility into transactional email delivery (e.g., receipts) directly within the UltraCart interface.

Once you configure a sending domain in StoreFront Communications, all email addresses associated with that domain will automatically utilize this method instead of SMTP.

Prerequisites

Prerequisite: You must have access to your domain's DNS provider to add the required DNS records.

Configuration Steps

  1. Navigate to StoreFront Communications within your UltraCart account.

  2. Enter your domain name in the Email Sending Domains section:

  3. Click the blue + button.

  4. A dialog will appear displaying four DNS records that must be added to your domain's DNS configuration:

    • 1 TXT record

    • 3 CNAME records

       

Tip: UltraCart will also send you an email containing these DNS records. If you're unfamiliar with DNS configuration, forward this email to your IT department or DNS administrator for assistance.

  1. After correctly adding the DNS records, UltraCart will automatically validate the configuration.

    • Validation typically occurs within 1 hour.

    • Once validated, a green dot will appear next to your domain name indicating successful configuration.

Question: “Can you give an example of what the DNS record might look like?”

Answer:
The email sending domain DNS records will consist of a TXT record and three CNAME records. These records are domain specific, therefore always use the DNS records provided by UltraCart during setup.

To access the DNS records for your email sending domain, log into your UltraCart account then
Navigate:
Main Menu → StoreFront → (Storefront Menu) Communications → Settings → Sending Domain (section) then click the pencil icon next to your domain to view the DNS records.

This ensures you're using the correct configuration values required for successful validation and email delivery.
