Transactional Emails
Transactional emails are automated, non-marketing messages sent to your customers. These include order receipts, shipping confirmations, password resets, and other essential communications. UltraCart unifies all these messages under the Communications menu to help you manage and customize your customer interactions.

Editing an Email Template
To begin editing a transactional email, navigate to Storefronts > Communications > Transactional Emails. A list of all available templates will appear on the left.
1. The Editor Interface
When you click the pencil icon next to an email name, you'll be taken to the editing screen. The editor is designed to provide a realistic preview of the email.
Tip: UltraCart automatically populates the editor with data from a relevant, recent order so you can see how the email will look with real customer and order information.
All transaction emails are edited within the context of a particular order. UltraCart will automatically find an order that the email needs to render properly. This makes the editing process realistic.
2. Customizing the Template
You can customize the following for each email template:
Subject: The subject line of the email.
From Name: The friendly name of the sender (e.g., "UltraCart").
From Email: The email address the message is sent from.
Prerequisite: To use a custom "From" email address, you must first configure a sending domain in your account.
3. Using Variables
UltraCart uses variables to dynamically insert customer, order, and account data into your email templates. These variables are enclosed in double curly braces, like {{customer.firstName}}.
To add a variable, click the variable button in the editor's toolbar.
A list of available variables will appear. Select the one you want to insert.
Note: The available variables differ for each email template based on the data that is relevant to it. For example, a receipt email will have order and payment variables, while a shipment email will have tracking information.
4. Testing and Saving
Test: To preview the email, click the Test button. A test email will be sent to the email address associated with your UltraCart user account.
Save: After you finish editing, click the Save button to apply your changes.
Configuring Email Options
Below the content editor, each email template has a set of options that allow you to fine-tune its behavior. These options are specific to each template.
Receipt Options
Hold Receipt Until Payment Processes | If selected, the emailed receipt will be held until the payment for the order has been processed. Pre-orders, and orders in the Accounts Receivable, and order in Fraud Review, will not trigger the sending of the emailed receipt until the payment has been processed. |
|---|---|
Attach Invoice | Attaches to the email an invoice. This may be useful with wholesale customers, for example. |
Hide Coupon Details | If selected, the coupon details will be suppressed from the receipt. |
Remove Excessive Blank Lines | If selected, the message will be condensed by removing blank lines from the message body. |
Skip Notification | If selected, the notification will be skipped. |
Shipment Notification Options
Attach Invoice | If selected, attach invoice to the email |
|---|---|
Delay Notification 24 Hours | If selected, the shipment notification will be delayed 24 hours. This option would allow time for the shipper to process the shipment and begin providing tracking details, preventing the customer from getting the tracking details before the shipper has the package registered in the their tracking system, showing only that the order details have been received. |
Hide Prices | If selected, the prices will be removed. |
Skip Notification | If selected, the notification will be skipped. |
