HeatMaps

About

Heatmaps are generated as part of the Storefront Recordings tool, you must have screen recordings enabled in order to view the heatmaps.

Three heatmaps are generated:

  1. Scroll map

  2. Click map

  3. Movement map

SCROLL map

The Scroll heatmap illustrates how how far users scroll down on a webpage. This information will help a merchant know where to place important content on the page for maximizing the number of users who will see the content. Dynamic scroll heatmaps calculate the average scroll depth and the average number of visitors that reached a particular part of the page. If you want to make sure your website visitors are seeing the most important content, scroll heatmaps will let you know.

CLICKS map

The Clicks heatmap (or mouse click heatmaps or taps on mobile devices) displays clicks made and where they happened on your webpage. Understanding where users are clicking (and not clicking) can help a website owner make important decisions to the web page layout and design.

MOVEMENT map

Move heatmaps show where visitors hovered their mouse or pointer over your webpage. A webpage visitor might move their mouse to help them read and follow along in an article or leave their mouse in a location while they read the content of the page. Move heatmaps provide another layer of insight into the behavior of the customer during their shopping session.
